By default, each time you click the Zoom icon in your Blackboard course tools, a new meeting room ID is randomly created, based on a 9, 10, or 11 digit number.
The same thing happens by default when you launch or schedule a new meeting in the Zoom app: new meeting, new meeting number.
This is a good place to emphasize how important it is that all attendees have the correct meeting ID in addition to the date and time of the meeting. Just like in a face-to-face meeting, the “when” is useless without the “where,” and vice versa.
A remedy to this complexity is the fact that each Zoom user account is assigned a permanent Room ID — your own virtual meeting space where you are always assigned the role of Host.
There are a few ways to find out your permanent, personal meeting ID:
Log in to your account (don’t forget to use SSO – Single Sign On – and your WSUID and password!) and view your profile. Both the room ID and the accompanying URL should be listed there.
(You can also access your profile from the App.)
Log into the app itself and you’ll find it at the top of the Meetings tab.
