I’ve been working in IDT for two years now, and for that whole time we would regularly be asked to develop a university template for Blackboard courses. While we have been able to produce a few program-specific templates such as the one for the Hybrid MBA program, Criminal Justice, and the DNP program, getting something that would work for the whole university has been a challenge. Not only are there some technical problems to overcome, we also faced issues with producing something that would be flexible enough for the great variety of courses we offer here at WSU.
Well, I’m happy to announce that we have managed to meet all the challenges, and we are now able to offer a university-wide course template for Blackboard courses. This template will be useful for anyone teaching a fully online, hybrid, or flipped course, and it can also be used or modified for face-to-face courses that have a Blackboard component. You can modify the template as you see fit, and it is designed to fit together with our updated menu items in the basic Blackboard course instance that you see when you first enter a new course shell.
I hope you find the template to be useful. If you have any suggestions or requests, please send them to IDT@wichita.edu, and we will be happy to help you. You may access any of our available templates, including the new university-wide template, on our consolidated training site.
