There have been a few changes to the Panopto interface at WSU this summer.
The most important change is an upgrade to the Panopto Recorder for both Mac and PC. The next time you open the recorder on your computer and login appropriately, there should be an automatic dialog that asks you to upgrade / download / install / etc. If that doesn’t happen upon logging in, you can always download the newest version of the recorder via a Blackboard course that’s been provisioned for Panopto, or by logging into panopto.wichita.edu and looking in the upper right corner beneath your name.
Another change to the Panopto-Blackboard interface involves the provisioning process when a new Blackboard course is created or populated via course copy. If the previous course being copied was provisioned with Panopto folders, those settings will automatically transfer to the new course (the one being populated or copied to). The students in your new Blackboard course will have access to the folders that the previous course’s students had access to. An instructor can change this, obviously, if it’s not the desired outcome, via the Reconfigure option. One thing that doesn’t happen when this course copy takes place is the creation of a new folder named/dated to match the new academic term. The default is based on the assumption that the previous folders can simply be re-used as storage containers for any new videos you create. You can even re-name those folders, if you like, via the Folder Information / Overview dialog.
Another change you’ll notice if your Blackboard course is provisioned for a single Panopto folder (versus being linked to several folders at once): Instead of the older-looking “flat” interface with hyperlinks to videos and settings, there’s a version of the Panopto folder right there in your Blackboard interface. You can still perform the same operations (and a few new ones) via that interface, like accessing the folder settings, uploading/manipulating recordings, etc.
